Tri-States Clinic utilizes state of the art equipment to quickly eliminate your discomfort and more importantly give you the tools so flare-ups are less likely. The cutting edge technology used includes:

Low Level Lasers Tri States Clinic offers cutting-edge technology with the Erchonia PL5000, the low level, non-invasive laser that speeds recovery, reduces pain and accelerates bone and wound healing. The first of its kind to be approved by the FDA, the Erchonia Low Level Laser (LLL) has a proven track record for healing, recovery and performance. This technology has been used by Jeff Spencer, sports chiropractor for Lance Armstrong and the U.S. Postal Cycling Team (now Team Discovery) throughout all seven of their Tour de France victories. A completely painless therapy, the LLL is applied to the affected part of the body for up to 50% faster recovery time.

Unlike high-heat lasers that are used in various surgical procedures, Erchonia lasers produce cold outputs which have no thermal effect on the body’s tissues. The LLL produces light energy which interfaces directly with our biology to stimulate cellular activation processes. This, in turn, intensifies cell activity to heal injured cells faster. The LLL is currently being used around the world to reduce pain in burns. Dr. Jeffrey Nelson, MD reports in his clinical studies that with the Erchonia LLL application there was a 70% decrease in pain at the wound site within 5 minutes of a two minute treatment. He goes on to say that when using the LLL for neck or back pain, there was a 30-50% improvement in pain with one application. Other studies have found that LLL treatments also help improve range of motion in the neck and lower back. Dr. Souder has used the LLL successfully for many conditions such as athletic injuries, tendinitis, arthritis, fibromyalgia, scar tissue, rotator cuff injury, sinusitis, whiplash, and TMJ.

How does it work?

Simply put, Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) helps heal tissues faster. More specifically, LLLT works at the cellular level by helping human cells produce a chemical known as ATP (Adenosine Tri-Phosphate) to run the body and heal tissue. All of our body’s activities result from the use of ATP. Using LLLT is like giving spinach to Popeye. There is a micro-structure within cells called mitochondria. It is nicknamed the “powerhouse” because it produces ATP. Greater amounts of ATP are generated when LLLT is used. It allows faster healing and quicker relief. LLLT allows the body to absorb energy that stimulates and jump starts processes such as wound healing, inflammation, and pain management. The possibilities of healing become endless when there is more energy available at the cellular level. The low level laser penetrates the skin to reach the damaged cells. It begins immediately to restore cellular function because it interfaces directly with our biology. The result is a decrease in pain and an increase in range of motion and muscle strength. The procedure is pain free and there is often immediate relief from pain.
Many athletes and sports teams have embraced low level lasers because of their success.

  • The official chiropractor for the United States Postal Service cycling team, Dr. Jeff Spencer, keeps a laser on hand at all times.
  • Lance Armstrong credits LLLT with increasing his stamina and improving his performance during his 8 Tour de France victories.
  • Olympic Ice Dancer, Melissa Gregory, used LLLT to heal a broken foot faster and keep her in competitio

Erchonia Percussor is a deep tissue massager that has many benefits in the treatment of acute and chronic injuries. When used in conjunction with the low level laser, the percussor helps reduce scar tissue formation in acute injuries and breaks up scar tissue that is commonly present in chronic injuries. Another benefit is release of superficial fascia in conditions such as plantar fasciitis. The percussor improves blood flow and encourages lymphatic drainage which will improve recovery time from injuries. This device has adjustable speeds so that it can be adapted to the comfort level of the patient. The percussor is a wonderful tool that soothes sore muscles and is often a favorite therapy treatment for the patients at Tri-States Clinic.
